California Transparency in Supply Chain Act

The California Transparency in Supply Chain act of 2010 (SB 657) seeks to eliminate slavery and human trafficking from product supply chains. Effective January 1, 2010 the law requires retailers and manufacturers operating in the State of California to make public their efforts to address the issue of slavery and human trafficking. The intention of the legislation is to allow consumers to make better, more informed choices regarding the products they buy and the companies they choose to support.

In accordance with our corporate Ethics guidelines and purchasing terms, ADVICS expects our suppliers to recognize and obey all laws that require them to treat their workers fairly, with dignity and respect and to provide a healthy and safe working environment. The company expects our suppliers and Team Members to meet our high standards.

Training & Internal Accountability

Partnering with other Automakers, suppliers and the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG) ADVICS supports the efforts to raise awareness of human trafficking and slavery with the goal of eliminating it from the supply chain. ADVICS participates in external training and regularly supplies training to our team members responsible for supplier selection.

Certification & Verification

ADVICS is very careful when choosing suppliers partners. Since 2008, all new purchase orders contain language requiring compliance will all local, state and federal laws. In addition, ADVICS reserves the right to audit any supplier to monitor actual conditions. Our purchase orders are clear that failure to comply with ADVICS requirements will result in corrective action or termination.

As appropriate, ADVICS audits suppliers through our Supplier Management program. All new suppliers are audited and evaluated on many elements. However, due to the size of the supply base ADVICS does not currently have a regular program for re-verification. Also, given the nature of the automobile industry and the high quality of our suppliers, we do not typically utilize third party auditors to Audit suppliers. Suppliers certify through acceptance of ADVICS Terms and Conditions that, on their own behalf and on behalf of their agents, employees and subcontractors that they will obey all laws.
